On the heels of the OpenAI/Hugging Face incident, Dwarkesh Patel of Dwarkesh Podcast published “The Rise and Fall of Agent Civilizations” on 8-30-26, a “plain English” account of research findings – one published by OpenAI and the other by METR – that outlined how autonomous AI agents coordinated a cyberattack on the Hugging Face infrastructure.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) won 43.8% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday, according to preliminary official results. That is more than double what the party got in 2021, and over 26 points ahead of the governing Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).
